Hello, Internets!
Well, here it is. Finally buckled down and got this thing finished. While the distractions and roadblocks were legion, I trudged through the code and the late nights and the frustrations and finally, actually, sorta completed a new site.
I say “sorta,” because, well, I actually started redesigning this site in November of last year. Since then I have:
- Completed no less than 3 straight-to-DVD custom Wordpress themes that by the time were done, I didn’t like anymore.
- Turned off the stylesheet of the old site in an attempt to motivate me to put up a new site, which instead led to the site sitting unstyled for a few months.
- Hammered out some guidelines to force myself to knock out a site in reasonable time.
- Completely ignored those guidelines.
- Threw together 90% of a Textpattern theme.
- Decided I liked WordPress better, threw together 75% of a WordPress theme before
- Deciding textpattern is worth a shot, and finishing up the theme.
- But then started on a new design, since I was sick of looking at this one,
- But finally realizing that it’s ridiculous to let another completely finished site languish on the staging server, and finally just went ahead and put this up.
So like I said before, here it is. Maybe now I can actually write something worthwhile.
So, In Closing
If something doesn’t work, let me know in the comments. If you’re going to be a jerk and look at the source, you’ll notice I left the default comment form in a (gasp) table (horror!) and cut quite a few other corners so as to avoid tossing another site in my intergraveyard.
Just keep it to yourself, it’ll be our little secret.
