Looks like hiring time is upon us, because over the past two weeks or so I’ve gotten four unsolicited emails (three from recruiters, one from a “hiring manager”) asking if I’d be interested in setting up a phone interview.

Every one of them spends at least a paragraph describing what an exciting, fast-paced environment their company is, with a diverse client portfolio developing custom dynamic interactivity-driven blah blah blah web sites.

It’s one thing for a Mom & Pop business, non-profit on a shoestring or even a small completely offline company to have obviously outdated, terrible websites.

It’s another for just about any other business taking themselves seriously, in the year 2007, to have a poor web presence.

Email marketing, done properly, is an unbelievable tool. Effective and cheap.

Email marketing, done properly, can have a huge Return on Investment. Take for example, an email/fax campaign I was recently involved in. Last year, the company spent about $5,000 on a direct mail blitz that netted them (from what I heard) just about nothing.

So Long The New AT&T

I’ve been a relatively satisfied AT&T Cingular AT&T customer for going on four years now. Service has been good, I can’t remember the last time I couldn’t get a signal or had a dropped call. There’s an AT&T store within walking distance of my apartment, and with friendly, helpful staff and reasonable wait times for service.

I really questioned my patronage after the illegal eavesdropping whistleblowing, but then Paris Hilton ate a sandwich or something and I was distracted by more important, pressing issues.
